Frequently Asked questions & their answers

How do you make your art?

My process is a made up combination of both paper work and computer work. I start out by making lots of textures–with watercolor, ink, pencil–and then scanning that into the computer and coloring it. I then cut those scans into lots of shapes and pieces and layer them, which has a similar effect of collaging with tissue paper. What you see in these prints are the results of lots and lots of layering of these textures and sometimes with some drawing on top of that.

More recently, though, I’ve begun desiring to work away from the computer more and more. I’m using a lot more colored pencil and about to learn gouache. I expect I’ll layer those as, well. We’ll see what emerges!

If I’m local can I pick up art at your house?

I sure do appreciate this question, as I know it can be handy to swing by rather than wait for shipping. However, I’ve decided to ask folks to choose shipping instead, as adding pick up times with the schedule of our family is a bit too much for me to manage right now.

I ordered a bunch of prints and only some arrived. Where’s the big one?

I send all prints bigger than 11x17 rolled up in tubes to protect them. Even though the tubes are mailed the same day as prints packaged in flat mailers, the tubes always arrive later than the mailers. I’m not sure why! It’s a postal service mystery. But please know they will arrive—they just had a little extra adventure along the way.

You don’t have a storefront. Where can I buy your art in person?

You can find me and my art personally at a few art festivals each year (I’m usually at Park Point Art Fair, Chester Bowl Fall Fest and Duluth Winter Village)!

Shops in Duluth that carry some of my work are North and Shore, Siiviis, DLH, Bailey Builds & Duluth Chiropractic Clinic (framed art for sale there). The Big Lake in Grand Marais carries most of my work. Rose and Loon at the Rosedale Mall has much of it.

How fast do prints ship?

I’ll let you in on my weekly schedule–I package and ship prints every Monday night! So, depending on what day you ordered in the week prior, you can know that the following Monday I am writing a note of thanks to you, drawing on your big envelope and setting them out for the mail carrier on Tuesday morning.

Do you do commissions?

I do a small number of commissions a year! Please email me if you have an idea! I’d love to create some special art for you.

Currently, all commissions are full through spring of 2025.

how about wedding invitations?

I mostly reserve custom invitations for friends and family.

However, if you see an existing print I have that would be perfect for your invitation, I would be happy to put something together for you using that art!

do you do wholesale or consignment?

If the partnership is right for both of us, I sure do! Please reach out if you are interested in selling my prints in your space and share a bit about yourself and your business.

do you frame art or recommend a place to get frames for the odd-sized prints?

I don’t frame art myself. But I have partnered with a frame shop in Grand Rapids, MN (Frame Up) so that you can order many of my 11x14 prints hand-framed by Eric and mailed directly to you. (You’ll see this option available when you click on most 11x14 prints).

If you’re in Duluth and looking for more framing resources, I always recommend the amazing work of Lizzard’s here in town, as well.

And, for a more inexpensive custom option, websites like www.frameiteasy.com are a good route (especially for the long panoramic prints). Otherwise, any of the prints I sell are standard frame sizes which you can find at most stores and all over the internet.

Do you print bigger sizes of any prints?

A few of them are already offered in larger sizes (there are many 16x20 possibilities, a few 18x24, one 24x24 and two larger, panoramic dimensions).

If you are interested in enlarging a particular print I can get a printing quote for you and get one made as a custom order. Just email in the contact section with details!
